Physical Education holds the first scientific forum


Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, the college held the first scientific forum under the slogan
  Sports-related sciences: Job market prospects and aspirations.
The forum, which lasted for two days, was attended by the President of the University, members of the University Council, teachers, and students of graduate and preliminary studies in the College of Physical Education and the university colleges, in addition to professors from Iraqi, Arab, and international universities who participated through the electronic platform (Zoom).
The forum included five topics: applications of sports physiology, sports biomechanics, measurement in psychology, rehabilitation after injuries, and sports management. There were corresponding lectures between the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and the College of Medicine, Engineering, and Education for the Humanities, Management, and Economics, where a professor from physical education and a professor from the corresponding specialty participated in giving a lecture. Joint scientific.
The goal of the forum is to diversify sports sciences to achieve sustainable development goals and develop links between the College of Physical Education and the university’s colleges to exchange scientific experiences. It should also be noted that sports sciences aim to achieve peace and fight extremism, and finally benefit from prevailing sciences to strengthen scientific relations between corresponding disciplines.
The President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem, also presented certificates of participation and shields of appreciation to the President of the Forum, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, and the lecturers and committees charged with the tasks of holding the Forum.
In turn, the University President stressed the future plan of the University Presidency to hold scientific forums and conferences that aim to develop the academic system and strengthen the scientific relationship between the university’s faculties, especially those with similar specializations, because of their importance in the educational environment and the labor market.
For his part, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, indicated that the forum achieved its goal. The formed committees succeeded in performing their tasks, and this is what we sought through the reactions and evaluation of the attendance from members of the University Council, the teaching staff, and the students, led by the President of the University. Accordingly, we decided that the next forum would be international between our college. And other colleges from the University of Basra and Iraqi, Arab and international universities according to specializations and corresponding fields.
The Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, presented a shield of appreciation to the President of the University, thanking him for his generous patronage of all the College’s activities.
