The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra held a separate meeting for professors of the Applied and Theoretical Sciences branches, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, and the heads of the two branches.
The head of the Theoretical Sciences Branch, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Hameed, discussed the directives of the Ministry, the University, and the College Council, the teaching load and lesson schedule, the teaching situation and ways to improve it in the third and fourth stages, and the situation of students (the positives and how to enhance them, the negatives and how to treat them).
In turn, the Head of the Applied Sciences Branch, Professor Dr. Firas Hassan, stressed the need to take into account the educational and moral aspects, urging students to actively participate in educational activities, and inviting college professors to the next meeting of students’ parents, in addition to the need to adhere to academic vocabulary approved by the sectoral body in the Ministry.
The professors’ opinions and suggestions were also listened to and were recorded in the minutes of the meeting. They will be discussed in the college council, and whatever serves the interest of the college and its professors will be implemented.
For his part, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, indicated, “We decided to hold two separate meetings for the professors of the two branches, and we adopt what was proposed by the heads of the two branches, in addition to the suggestions and opinions expressed by the professors. These meetings will be repeated periodically so that we maintain communication between the professors and the deanship.”
