Praise be to God for His countless blessings and countless blessings, as He has bestowed upon us a sound mind, good behavior, and the preservation of trustworthiness.
Now, my period of assignment as Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences has ended, and it was a great responsibility that we went through with a set of challenges, from the student sit-in and the Corona pandemic, to the transition to e-learning and blended learning, the return of in-person education, and the end of the 25th Gulf Championship in Basra.
Successive and different circumstances required slowness at times and haste at times in making a decision. Despite this, we performed the task successfully and with the praise of senior state officials, our teaching colleagues, and university employees, and the bottom line of the fatigue is our students.
Part of what was achieved during this period is:-
1- More than one thousand and two hundred students graduated from the initial study
2-More than one hundred and twenty researchers, between master’s and doctoral degrees, included discussion and supervision of some theses and dissertations
3- Maintaining the college’s main stadium, as it has become at the top of the list of physical education stadiums in Iraq
4- Obtaining the financial allocation for the college’s Olympic swimming pool, and this is what was approved in the Iraqi Council of Representatives in its recent sessions related to the budget.
5- The scientific journal (Journal of Physical Education Research) obtained the Arab Impact Factor and is now a short step away from reaching the Global Impact Factor (Scopas)
6- With regard to the great visual celebration, which is the Gulf Championship, we have completed and facilitated the tasks of nearly two hundred students and teachers in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the organizing committee, and everyone bears witness to the beauty and success of the opening and closing ceremony.
Our doors were open to state institutions, federations, sports clubs, and civil society organizations. We embraced and sponsored hundreds of activities, events, courses, and workshops in various specializations, all of which were crowned with success.
Praise be to God, all praise is due to His generous help and support during the past period. A large work team was prepared for us in giving, from the teachers, the employees, and even the students. They were tireless and tireless. I felt with them a feeling of family and brotherhood. They have the greatest thanks and gratitude.
In conclusion, we congratulate our colleague, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi, on assuming the position of Dean of the College and wish him success and success. We will support him in his journey in service to our generous college and our glorious university.
Therefore, this is not the end or the end of the journey. We are at our disposal and willing to serve what is best for Iraq and Basra and provides benefit to our honorable people.
