Within the framework of scientific and academic cooperation between Iraqi universities, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, chaired

on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Master's Thesis Discussion Committee at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Maysan, entitled "Accommodative Behavior as Indicated by the Emotional Intelligence of Young Soccer Players Under the Age of 19." The thesis was submitted by graduate student and researcher Ali Mahdi Hassoun in Dr. Ahmed Al-Waili Hall at the University of Maysan, with the participation of a group of psychology and sociology professors. The discussion committee consisted of:

• Prof. Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed Al-Lami - Chairman

• Asst. Prof. Dr. Fadhil Baqir Mutasher Al-Lami - Member

• Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Ridha Hassan - Member

• Prof. Dr. Rahim Helo Ali - Member and Supervisor

• Prof. Dr. Mustafa Abdul Zahra Abboud Al-Lami - Member and Supervisor

The study aimed to:

• Construct and standardize measures of emotional intelligence and adaptive behavior among young soccer players.

• Identify the reality of these two variables among players.

• Find the levels and standard scores for the two measures.

• Explore the relationship between emotional intelligence and adaptive behavior, and determine the predictive value of the former in relation to the latter.

The researcher adopted a descriptive approach using a survey method and predictive relationships. The sample included (335) players from Maysan Youth Football Clubs for the 2025 sports season, distributed across (13) clubs.

The most prominent results were:

1. Developing a scientific tool to measure emotional intelligence in its four dimensions.

2. Developing a scientific tool to measure adaptive behavior in its four dimensions.

3. Extracting standard scores that coaches and players can use in psychological assessments.

4. Maysan Youth players had an average level of emotional intelligence and adaptive behavior. The study recommended:

• Adopting constructed scales as scientific tools in clubs and training centers.

• Paying attention to the psychological aspect alongside the physical, skill, and tactical aspects.

• Using the predictive equation to assess psychological readiness instead of relying on self-assessment.

The dissertation was approved with a very good rating, in the distinguished presence of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Maysan, Professor Majid Aziz, the assistants, members of the Graduate Studies Committee, and a group of professors, students, and administrative figures in Maysan Governorate.

At the conclusion of the discussion, Professor Majid Aziz distributed certificates of appreciation and commemorative shields to the chairman and members of the discussion committee.
