Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra Participates in the Deans' Committee Meeting Held at the University of Diyala
Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, participated in the meeting of the Deans' Committee of the Colleges of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, which was held at the University of Diyala on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, on the sidelines of the Third International Scientific Conference.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad and Chairman of the Deans' Committee of the Colleges of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in Iraq. He emphasized that the committee represents an effective scientific and coordinating umbrella between colleges, indicating that holding the meeting in conjunction with the scientific conference is in line with the trend toward linking scientific research outcomes with future academic development plans.
The meeting's agenda addressed several topics, most notably:
• Updating curricula to align with the requirements of digital transformation.
• Expanding areas of scientific cooperation between universities.
• Supporting joint research that employs artificial intelligence technologies in sports training and education.
• Preparing to join the Bologna Process starting in the 2026–2027 academic year.
• Discussing the mechanism for adopting the electronic application form for admission of students applying to study in the Colleges of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.
In his speech, the President of the University of Diyala, Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the university's support for all solid scientific initiatives that enhance the specialization's status and serve the community, in line with the goals of sustainable development in Iraq.
