When academia meets intellect, and culture intersects with sports, horizons for action expand, and new doors open for creating a meaningful impact.
In a visit of significant academic, cultural, and athletic importance, Prof. Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed—Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra and Head of the Competitions Committee at the Iraqi Football Association—led a delegation of distinguished academics from various Iraqi universities. These professors, who hold leadership and membership roles within several committees of the Iraqi Football Association, visited Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of *Bayt Al-Hikma* (House of Wisdom), to offer their congratulations on his assumption of his new duties.
The visit was far more than a mere protocol engagement; it served as a substantive meeting of minds and institutions, bringing together academic and sports leaders with a pivotal intellectual and cultural organization. Discussions covered the history and mission of *Bayt Al-Hikma*, as well as its role in enriching the cultural and intellectual landscape, disseminating knowledge, and fostering societal culture both within and beyond Iraq.
Prof. Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed emphasized that the meeting with the Chairman of the *Bayt Al-Hikma* Board of Trustees was marked by a spirit of mutual appreciation and openness. It provided a genuine opportunity to explore future avenues of cooperation among academic, cultural, and sports institutions—aligning with the College’s strategic vision to build robust institutional relationships that transcend ceremonial occasions and evolve into sustainable scientific and intellectual projects. The Dean noted that the meeting established direct channels of communication aimed at developing future protocols and partnerships—spanning scientific conferences, research and studies, expertise exchange, intellectual seminars and forums, and professional development programs—thereby enhancing the academic institution's presence across the realms of knowledge, culture, and sports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, presented a collection of the College’s publications and brochures—documenting its scientific, academic, and athletic activities, as well as its institutional outputs and engagements—as a gift to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of *Beit Al-Hikma* (House of Wisdom). This gesture served to express appreciation for the visit and the significant meaning it held.
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences: an academic presence that goes beyond mere knowledge creation; it actively initiates partnerships, opens doors, and builds new bridges connecting science, culture, and sports.
And from *Beit Al-Hikma*, the story of a new collaboration begins—defined by knowledge, driven by partnership, and dedicated to serving Iraq.
