The Council of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra concluded its sixth open session and commended the academic and administrative achievements of the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Council of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra held its sixth open session on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM, chaired by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, and attended by the Vice Deans for Academic and Administrative Affairs, the Heads of Academic Departments, the Directors of the Quality Assurance, Registration, and Student Affairs Divisions, and the Council's Rapporteur.
The Council began its proceedings by expressing its gratitude and appreciation to all faculty members and staff for their outstanding efforts and dedication in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities during the 2025/2026 academic year, which contributed to enhancing the College's academic and administrative progress.
The Council also commended the significant efforts of the postgraduate and undergraduate examination committees, appreciating their diligent work and excellent organization, which contributed to the success of the examination process, and wishing the students continued success and excellence in their academic pursuits. The Council affirmed its pride in the college's significant achievement of obtaining full program accreditation for its Bachelor's program for a period of four years. It extended its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, his esteemed council, the program accreditation team, and all those who contributed to this academic accomplishment, which adds to the college's and university's record of achievements and reflects the high level of quality and academic rigor that the institution enjoys.
The Council discussed the final preparations for the competitive entrance examination for Master's and Doctoral programs, emphasizing the necessity of providing all the technical and administrative requirements to ensure its success in accordance with the approved regulations and instructions.
The Council also reviewed the plans and procedures for the comprehensive maintenance and renovation of the college's facilities in preparation for the upcoming academic year, ensuring a suitable learning environment for students and faculty. Furthermore, the Council discussed several administrative and academic matters on the agenda and made the necessary decisions and recommendations. At the conclusion of the session, the Dean of the College affirmed that the achievements made during the academic year were the fruit of collective work and a unified team spirit, emphasizing the continuation of efforts to maintain the level of excellence achieved by the College and to enhance its academic and scientific standing.
