Renewing their commitment to the principles of the Husseini revival, the Dean and Council of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra participated in raising the banner of Imam Hussein, marking the beginning of the holy month of Muharram.

Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, and members of the College Council, participated in the ceremony of raising the Husseini banner, held today at the University of Basra, marking the beginning of the holy month of Muharram and commemorating the uprising of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and its timeless values ​​of sacrifice, reform, and justice.

The ceremony was attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and the esteemed University Council, as well as a large academic and administrative presence from the university community.

They were honored by the presence of Mr. Fadhil Awz, a member of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, who highly praised the University of Basra and its honorable and significant stances in supporting the religion and the Husseini cause. The banner of Imam Hussein was raised amidst an atmosphere of faith, imbued with loyalty and devotion to the school of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), and a renewed pledge to follow the path of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in supporting truth and confronting injustice.

Participants affirmed that commemorating this occasion embodies the academic institution's commitment to its religious, national, and humanitarian values, and reinforces the culture of awareness, tolerance, and sacrifice established by Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in his immortal epic.

They prayed to God Almighty that this blessed month would be an opportunity to draw lessons and inspiration from the revolution of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and that He would protect Iraq and its people and grant them security and stability.
