In the presence of a distinguished panel of professors, the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences chaired a master's thesis defense in sports sociology.
Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, chaired the committee that examined the master's thesis of student Zainab Razak Fadhil, specializing in sports sociology. The defense took place in the college's graduate studies hall.
The thesis was titled:
“Social Influence and its Positive and Negative Repercussions on the Social Adjustment of Sitting Volleyball Players – A Field Study of Clubs and Committees in Central and Southern Iraq.”
The examining committee included Professor Dr. Amer Abbas Issa and Assistant Professor Dr. Zuhair Salem. The thesis was supervised by Professor Dr. Firas Hassan Abdul Hussein, a leading expert in sports sociology.
The thesis addressed an important topic that combines social and sporting dimensions. It studied the nature of the social influences experienced by sitting volleyball players and their positive and negative repercussions on their social adjustment, aiming to support this sporting group and enhance their active integration into society. The discussion featured a rigorous academic dialogue characterized by depth and methodological rigor. The researcher presented a comprehensive overview of her study's findings, conclusions, and recommendations, which serve the fields of sociology of sport and Paralympic sports in Iraq.
This discussion, which was approved with a very high grade, is part of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra's efforts to support rigorous scientific research and develop postgraduate studies, thus reinforcing its position as one of the leading academic institutions in the fields of sports and human sciences in Iraq.
