From the fields of science and sports to national intellectual forums: A faculty member from the College of Physical Education participates in the International Conference on the Fatwa of Sufficient Jihad
In confirmation of the active presence of the faculty members of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in various scientific, intellectual, and national forums, Professor Dr. Ammar Jassim, a faculty member at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, participated in the International Conference on the Fatwa of Sufficient Jihad, organized by the Secretariat of the Holy Abbasid Shrine, the sponsor of scientific conferences, on Friday, June 12, 2026.
This participation embodies the growing role of the college's academics in contributing to scientific and intellectual events with national and humanitarian dimensions. It reflects that athletic excellence is not limited to the fields of competition and sporting achievements, but extends to the realms of thought, culture, and scientific research. The college's professors continue their influential presence in various scientific forums both within Iraq and abroad.
In this regard, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, affirmed that this participation represents a distinguished example of the scientific and intellectual presence of the college's professors and embodies the ability of academic athletes to innovate and influence various scientific, national, and cultural fields. He noted that the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences is rich in distinguished academic talent that has proven its presence and excellence both within Iraq and internationally.
He further stated that the college administration prioritizes supporting researchers and faculty members and is proud of the achievements and high-quality contributions of its professors, which enhance the standing of the University of Basra and confirm that the college's members are not only creators of sporting achievements but also active partners in shaping awareness and thought and serving major national causes. We ask God Almighty to grant Professor Dr. Ammar Jassim continued success, creativity, and excellence, and that he may continue his distinguished academic career in a manner befitting the reputation and leading academic standing of the University of Basra.
