On the anniversary of the Speicher massacre: A wound in the nation's memory and an enduring act of heroism.

The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed,

and all its staff, extend their deepest condolences and remembrance to the families of the martyrs of the Speicher massacre, who fell victim to a heinous crime that shook the conscience of humanity and left a profound mark on the hearts of all Iraqis.

As we commemorate this tragic event, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening national unity and social cohesion, and to drawing inspiration from the sacrifice and patience of our martyrs who gave their pure souls for the sake of the nation.

We ask God Almighty to grant the martyrs His abundant mercy and admit them to His spacious Paradise, to grant their families patience and solace, and to protect our beloved Iraq from all harm and evil.

To God we belong, and to Him we shall return.
