Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, the College, in cooperation with the College of Nursing, organized a specialized workshop on first aid. This workshop aimed to enhance health and professional awareness within the university community.

The workshop lectures were presented by Dr. Ahmed Thamer Saud, who covered the latest scientific methods and practical applications in dealing with emergency situations. Assistant Professor Dr. Faisal Ghazi and Assistant Professor Dr. Zuhair Salem contributed to the preparation and organization of the workshop, which saw a significant turnout of faculty, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students, reflecting the importance of this vital area.

The workshop was well-attended by faculty members, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students. The workshop witnessed remarkable engagement from attendees, reflecting the importance of first aid as the first line of defense in saving lives and mitigating risks, especially in sports environments that demand a high level of preparedness to handle injuries and emergencies. Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, Dean of the College, emphasized that holding this workshop aligns with the college's strategy to instill a culture of health and prevention, and to enhance the skills of faculty and students in dealing with various emergencies. He noted that the partnership with the College of Nursing represents a successful model of scientific integration among the university's colleges.

He added that the college is committed to organizing high-quality programs and workshops that contribute to preparing scientifically and practically qualified sports personnel capable of meeting the demands of fieldwork. He stressed that first aid training is no longer optional, but rather a necessity dictated by the nature of the specialization and professional responsibility.
