the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra witnessed a distinguished launch of its book fair on Monday morning, April 27, 2026. The fair, held in the college library, was attended by high-ranking officials and academics, including the Ministry delegation responsible for program accreditation of colleges of physical education and sports sciences in Iraq, as well as members of the college’s industrial consulting office. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage and in the presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, and with the participation of the President of the National Council for Program Accreditation in Iraq, Professor Dr. Haitham Mohammed Kadhim, and his accompanying delegation. This initiative reflects the college’s commitment to fostering a scientific environment and establishing a culture of knowledge as the cornerstone for developing academic and professional performance. The fair aims to support scientific activity and provide diverse knowledge resources that contribute to honing the skills of students and researchers, in accordance with the requirements of academic accreditation and comprehensive quality standards.
In this regard, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, emphasized that holding the book fair at the college today is not a fleeting event, but rather a clear message that we believe in building A person's athletic potential is only complete when their scientific and intellectual mind is developed. Modern sports are no longer merely physical performance; they have become a comprehensive science based on research, study, and planning.
At the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, we are working to establish a holistic academic environment that combines practical application with theoretical knowledge. We consider this exhibition an important step in supporting our students and researchers to reach the highest levels of scientific awareness, in line with the requirements of program accreditation and quality standards.
We also highly value the presence of the ministerial delegation, which represents genuine support for the college's progress and reflects the ministry's commitment to developing our educational institutions on sound foundations.
