Meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the Industrial Advisory Council of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra held a meeting at 10:00 AM in the College Council Hall, on the sidelines of the Ninth International Scientific Conference on Sports Sciences. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College, who also serves as the Council Chairman, all members of the College Council, and Council members Mr. Jaafar Sinakh Al-Hajjaj, a member of the Basra Provincial Council; Brigadier General Dr. Mohammed Jassim, Commander of the Internal Security Forces Training School; Dr. Ali Al-Kinani, Head of the Basra Branch of the Olympic Committee; and Dr. Muhannad Yousef, Assistant Director of Youth and Sports.

This meeting is part of the activities of the conference organized by the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra in cooperation with the Colleges of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the Universities of Maysan, Dhi Qar, Wasit, and Muthanna, under the theme:

(Sports and Digital Transformation… Scientific Visions for Building a Sustainable Future).

The meeting addressed several important topics, including the upcoming international conference and its development to meet the demands of the next phase. Discussions also covered preparations and coordination for the Gulf Cup, scheduled to be held in Basra in 2026, and the role of academic institutions in supporting and organizing major sporting events.

The Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between academic institutions and various sports sectors, and the necessity of leveraging digital transformation to enhance academic and athletic work. This, he stressed, will contribute to supporting sustainable sports development and ensuring the success of future sporting events.
