College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Hosts an Arbitration Course in Basketball

The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra hosted an arbitration course in basketball, sponsored by the Iraqi National Basketball Association and supervised by the Sub-Union in Basra Governorate.
The course lasted for three days and included the theoretical and practical side, adding electronic tests and an English language test, with the participation of thirty-eight trainees of both sexes from college students and from outside, and international referee Jawad Hassan Shaalan lectured on it.

The course aims to create a base of new referees with advanced information that keeps pace with the development that the game has gone through, in addition to strengthening what has been proposed and taught in the basketball subject taught to students in the college.
The closing activities were also attended by the representative of the Olympic Committee in Basra, Dr. Mushtaq Hamid, the former goalkeeper of the Kuwaiti national team, the international captain, Abdul-Ridha Abbas, and a group of college professors, as well as the permanent presence of the teacher and the head of the Basketball Sub-Union, Dr. Wissam Falah.

For his part, the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sabah Mahdi Karim, indicated, "Training courses have a great role in refining talents and discovering sports materials, even on the administrative and technical side. The arbitration course set up by the Basketball Association is of great importance, and in turn we support our colleague Dr. Wissam Falah and his journey to develop basketball in Basra."
