The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra hosted the "Meeting of Champions" boxing championship, organized by the Basra Governorate Boxing Federation in cooperation with the college. The event was held in the college's auditorium.

This hosting of the championship was part of an effort to strengthen cooperation between academic institutions and sports federations, support the sports movement in the governorate, and provide students with the opportunity to observe and participate in official sporting events. This was made possible through the significant role played by the course instructor, Assistant Professor Dr. Fouad Abdul-Mahdi, in collaboration with all sports institutions in Basra Governorate.

The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, emphasized that hosting such championships aligns with the college's commitment to supporting sports activities and enhancing partnerships with sports federations. This contributes to the development of sports and serves the community, in addition to honing the skills of the college's students through direct participation in official championships.
